And by this I mean I can literally see the sun when I leave home from work everyday now. ๐ In that archi firm, itโs commonplace to leave work after the sun setsโฆ Some even stay till 1-2am in the morning. Itโs the culture. I knew I didnโt want that to become my life. Wait, what life? ๐ซฃ
In Uni, I was known to be one of the more driven and go all out kind of person. I was just super passionate about the work that I put out. So it naturally came as a shock to everyone when I broke my scholarship bond. ๐ฌ๐คข

โ๐ผ First of, can I just say that employees usually quit not because of work per se, but due to bad leaders and bosses – basically, people related. โน๏ธ Pretty common in all workplaces.
๐๐ผ Long story short, I was under a very mean and nasty leader.
๐๐ผ Imagine getting screamed at when you come back from your marriage leave ๐ฉ
๐๐ผ Imagine hearing (on repeat) that he/she is working 24/7 and not having rest at all in the group chat ๐คข๐คข๐คข Implying that he/she is the only one working hard and picking up after everybody else.

I can laugh about it now but wow It was truly one of the darkest periods of my life. Broke down a couple of times in front of my mum and husband cus I just couldnโt understand why I worked so hard in school to land myself in such an upsetting situation ๐ฐ๐
๐ Well apparently the person left the company that very month when two of us from the team left. Our theory was this person was forced to quit. ๐ A close friend shared that the said person has since joined the โclientโ side and is out there wrecking havoc + causing distress to the other archi firm ๐ซฃ Ahโฆ same old, no change.

โผ๏ธ Lastly, a word of advice for archi students or if you know any, ๐ฝ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ฑ๐ผ๐ปโ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐๐ฝ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ผ๐น๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฝ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ป๐ถ๐ฒ๐.๐ฎโ๐จ Just take the general sponsorship bondโฆ It leaves you some leeway to jump to another firm if things go wrong in the first firm.
Eventually, I wasnโt able to revert from direct scholarship to basic sponsorship bond for whatever reasons. ๐ฃ๐ข Many told me to fight till the end โฆ My current bosses even helped to write in but to no avail. We all reckoned there may be deeper โpoliticalโ implications. ๐ป The authorities mentioned I could have requested to switch to another team but wouldnโt that be so awkward for everyone? Besides, I was too broken and jaded to even consider that because I knew the culture of the company will NOT change. ๐
Eventually, the authorities decided that itโs best they strip the scholarship away from me. ๐
๐ผ๐๐จ๐ค๐ก๐ช๐ฉ๐๐ก๐ฎ ๐ฝ๐๐๐๐ผ๐.
I totally lost all respect for them. They didnโt try to even protect their scholarship recipient who had suffered work place mistreatment ๐ฎโ๐จ All I could remember was feeling trapped and threatened over the phone calls I had with the person-in-charge.
Canโt deny that till today Iโm still disappointed with how things turned out. ๐ But I can say that everyone is happy for me that I took the courage to quit. People around me could feel I was ๐ฏ times happier.
Certainly glad I left for greener pastures.
Life is too short to dwell in a place where you donโt feel appreciated, motivated and happy about. Not worth it. ๐ฅน
Oh, and we found out that I actually conceived my baby on the very last week before I left the company ๐ Good vibes only yโall ๐๐ป๐ Many said itโs a sign from the universe!!!!! Hahaha

๐ This entire incident knocked me into reality and made me reconsider my career path. I even stopped logging my log sheets.
๐๐ผ FYI, in order to become an Architect,
1. We have to first get a mastersโ degree and then log our working experiences for at least 24 months (some even log for 3-5 years to get all the required experiences)
2. Write a case study report
3. Sit for an exam
4. Go for interview
If you pass then you can be a QP or Qualified Person.
Iโm still wondering if itโs worth it ๐คจ
