At the age of 17, I left my hometown of Medan and embarked on an exciting journey overseas. After high school, I made the decision to pursue a fashion degree at LASALLE art school in Singapore. The prospect of moving abroad and taking control of my life decisions filled me with anticipation.

During my time in Singapore, I not only focused on my studies but also took on part-time jobs and completed two internships. In my first internship, I managed the social media accounts for an F&B establishment, and in my second internship, I worked as a fashion intern. My part-time jobs were in the food and beverage industry and hospitality. Balancing all of these responsibilities kept me quite busy during my three-year stay.

Initially, it was challenging to manage my time between work and studies, especially with internships in the mix. However, as time went on, I learned to improve my time management skills.

As my final year approached, I began contemplating my career prospects. Two months before the semester ended, amidst the chaos of a demanding submission week, I started applying for jobs. After two months of hard work and determination, I successfully secured an office job.

Reflecting on my 3.5 years in Singapore, it has been quite a roller coaster ride. I've had the opportunity to experience new things and, notably, manage my finances independently. It's been a fantastic chapter in my life!

To fellow international students, I encourage you not to give up and to always strive to do your best!
