I think making food for yourself is one of the most beautiful things you can do: you’re essentially creating something to nourish yourself with, which is the biggest act of love (to me!)

I think of food as a sacred practice: in spirituality we believe that what you put into your body, be it literally or not has the power to transform your energy. I gravitate towards less processed options in general with regards to my food, so here’s a SUPER SIMPLE recipe for healthy gimbap!

    1. THE FILLING 🥓🥒🥕

There’s no limit to what you can put into your gimbap, as long as it’s (somewhat) stringy. Personally, I like carrots and cucumbers for that extra crunch, fried egg for that chewiness and some low-sodium spam for that burst of flavour!

    2. WHAT RICE SHOULD I USE? 🍚

I personally think that Japanese rice works best because of its stickiness, but if your rice doesn’t stick maybe add a touch of vinegar and water before you roll up the gimbap!

    3. LAY IT OUT!

On a flat sheet of seaweed, lay out your rice, and your filling on one end of the piece of seaweed. WASH YOUR HANDS and try to pack it as tightly as you can when you roll up the gimbap otherwise the filling will start falling out when you eat it!

Voila! You’ve just made yourself some healthy gimbap!
