    Hello girlfriends!

🌟Dishing out a hard truth about divorce in SG today🌟

📚📚Did u know that you cannot file for divorce unless at the date of filing (for divorce) 3 years have passed since the date of the marriage?*📚📚

1🔎The rationale for this is that a time restriction may protect the sanctity of marriage and to ensure that parties do not enter into and out of marriage capriciously.

2🔎There are exceptions to the 3 years rule where one may file for divorce within the first 3 years of marriage if the marital relationship is in extreme dire straits.

3🔎Dire straits would mean exceptional hardship on the Plaintiff or exceptional depravity on the Defendant.**

4🔎Adultery per se is a fact to prove that your marriage has broken down irretrievably but it may not satisfy 3🔎.*** This means that your marriage would still have to meet the 3 year mark before you can file for divorce even if the adultery happened in the first 3 years.❗️‼️

Let me know your thoughts on this! I am genuinely curious 🙂 Would this info change your views about marriage in SG?
