One of the plans i had for my 21st was to have a staycay to celebrate! It was my first time doing one so everything was new. After it ended, I felt that there were a lot of things could be done better. Hence, here are 3 mistakes i did that you can avoid if you are planning to host a hotel celebration too👇🏼
💭 It was too rushed.
I only booked for a 1 day staycay which means we can only check in at 3pm and check out the next day at 12pm. I did not consider all the time taken needed to set up the decorations, getting ready and hosting friends.
For a rough time line;
– my boyfriend and his friends took about 2hrs to set up
– I took 1 hr to get ready
– friend group A and friend group B each came to my hotel and stayed for 2 hours
There was barely any time to rest and one friend group came after the other. Furthermore, i didn’t manage to take a lot of nice solo pictures before they came which was one of my biggest regrets – that was the main motive of my staycay,,, to take nice birthday pics 🙁
💭 Get sturdy decorations.
As i mentioned that everything was the first time to me and my boyfriend, he had quite a hard time setting up the decorations. Even after getting everything up, the balloons kept dropping down with slight movements. This was quite a hassle as we had to keep taping it again midway phototaking. We only used the glue dots given in the decoration set but they were not sticky enough.
Suggestion : You can probably get blue tack or better tape to ensure the decorations doesn’t drop.
💭 Book a cheaper hotel.
I wanted my 21st to be grand so i booked a staycation at St.Regis, which cost about 500+ per night 🥲🥲 While I absolutely love the hotel room, i didn’t manage to explore much of the facilities around due to time constraint. Also, most of the time my friends and I will just be at the bed or couch area chilling and taking pictures. Doing that in such an expensive hotel room is honestly not worth as truthfully, we can chill at any other random hotel LOL. I really love the place and wish i could have more time to explore the gym, swimming pool and other possible facilities ard the hotel!! wld definitely be one of #MyGoTo if I am looking to stay in a luxurious hotel in sg✨
Suggestion: If hosting an actual hotel celebration, any hotel would do. However if doing an actual staycation to relax, St Regis can be one for you to consider! 😉
