Taking a gap year to some people also means wasting your life away while your peers are one step ahead of you…

The truth is, I didn’t exactly know what I was gonna do and I was lost for a rly long time either…

It took me quite awhile to discover my own interests and step out of my comfort zone! Taking a gap year also means that you are on your own most of the time and you gotta take that accountability for your what you do in life 🥹

For me personally, I would say my gap year has been pretty meaningful so far! Here's what I did during my gap year 🙂

    ✅Internships at dream companies

Internships are rly important to make sure you don’t lose track of what you studied in school, it’s a good way to practice whatever you learnt and apply it in the real working world! I interned at Daily Vanity and Goody Feed, which was two of the media companies that I always wanted to work at!

✅Travel with friends (genting, korea, BKK)

When else will you have the chance to travel freely again? Your gap year is the best chance so maximise the time that you have & go on THAT TRIP that you always wanted to 🎉

✅Learning instruments and taking professional grading

I always had the interest in music and I’ve been learning the pipa and liuqin for awhile now, I decided to use the time to pursue my professional grading examinations as it might come in handy for me in future 👍

✅Joining activities and trying out new experiences

A gap year is the best time to just YOLO and try out new hobbies and experiences! One of the hobbies I picked up during my gap year is Muay Thai. I never had the time to pursue my interests due to my tight schedule in school back then

    ✅Spending time with loved ones

This is very important, but honestly can be quite challenging too… most of my friends are either working full time / in uni / NS but if there are any opportunities to meet, you should always make time for the people around you ❤️

    ✅Research for unis / colleges / scholarships

If taking a gap year means reflecting on what you wanna do in the future, you should also take the time to research on your college plans / whether you wanna continue working full time etc! It’s best to start early so you can prepare for interviews / portfolio etc! 💪
