a day in my life in a Chinese uni

it's uni season so i'm back to school! but this time, it's a totally new campus in a new country 🫨 not many SGreans come here for school full-time so i thought i'd share what a typical day is like at uni in China! if you're wondering what/why i'm at this uni, do check out my previous posts!

here's my typical schedule in uni:

    morning:

    – wake up

    – eat breakfast 🥱

    – cycle to school 🚲

    – lectures/seminars 📚

    – gym (if no class) 💪🏼

    afternoon:

    – lunch 🍜

    – lectures/seminars 📚

    – library study

    night:

    – cycle home 🚲

    – dinner 🍛

    – hang out with friends/chill/call home 👯

    CYCLING 🚲

the absolute best way to get to/from campus is to cycle! my uni is split into North and South campus, and living in student accomodation that is south of the campus means it's more convenient to cycle there (5-8mins) than to take a bus (bus stops only at North campus) or walk (20mins) 🤩 it's also a great way to get in some exercise if i know i will have a busy day and won't have time for the gym!

    SCHOOL GYM 💪🏼

modern, clean, and safe! it has most of the standard equipments that we use and the gym caps the amount of people so it never gets too crowded! i usually go in the morning to avoid the after school crowd and it's also considered off-peak!

    LECTURES/SEMINARS 📚

usually i order my favourite cup of latte from Meituan (food delivery app) and have it delivered to my faculty's building before class to fuel me through 🥱

classes here are very much like uni classes elsewhere in the world with lectures in lecture halls and seminars in classrooms that are more discussion focused!

    LUNCH/DINNER 🍽️

after morning class i usually take my lunch at the school's food court! it's cheap, tasty, and convenient 😁 with a meal costing anywhere between $2 to $5!

i usually order food delivery to the library if i'm staying in school or back home for dinner if i'm not staying late so i get to try different kinds of food! they cost about the same as well so financially it's not that much different 🤑

    HANG OUT/CHILL TIME 👯

sometimes my roommates and i hang out in the common area, or i'll head to a night market right outside the student accommodation compound for some supper! if not, weekends are spent calling home 📞 or heading downtown for a meal at a restaurant with friends 🥳

overall, i think uni life so far in China has been pretty amazing! if i had to sum it up, it would be combining the modernity of SG with the prices of JB on top of the hyper convenience of China! the campus is beautiful with so many air-conditioned seating places, a 10-storey library 🤓, plenty of shopping malls and eating options nearby, food delivery shelves at every building, and an amazing sports centre!

especially after covid-19, campus life is something which i have always wished i had and now i do! so that's how a typical day in my life in a uni in China is like, how's yours?

as always, that's all from me today, stay safe and happy travelling (studying) y'all 🐢
