Y’all, I’ve been on Lemon8 since early April and I think I can officially say that writing here is a full-on hobby now 🥺
The Lemon8 team has so kindly invited me to share more about my journey AND OF COURSE I can’t say no to the ever-amazing team so I’m here to share my humble 2 cents on this journey, and everything that worked for me!!!
1️⃣ Content creation is a WAY OF LIFE!
I have come to realise that the only way to make a sustainable stream of content is to ✨integrate✨ content creation into your life! That way, procrastination and burn outs are greatly reduced as it’s not a “chore”.
Here are a few things that I find so helpful for me:
🌸 Decide on a few main themes of topics close to your heart and life – so that whenever you feel uninspired, you have a structure to brainstorm about!
🌸 Whenever an idea strikes, draft posts!! I have tons of saved drafts/ half completed series, ready for me to pick up/ finish off and post anytime, super efficient!
2️⃣ PRESENTATION is key!!
There is tons of content out there, so standing out with your post and writing is very important, and we have to be strategic with it!
🌸🌸 Cover photo – I like to keep my covers clean yet informative. Some things that work for me are:
✨ Big numbers – eg Top 3 xxx ; yyy under $250
✨ Hook titles – can you believe xxx ?!
✨ Font/colour play – in-app editing is really not too bad!
✨ Collages/ cut out stickers – so useful to show varieties!!
🌸🌸 Post writing – this is an art I’m still trying to hone. While I love the long-form content concept on Lemon8, chunky posts are still undeniably hard to digest so I try to…
✨ Use emojis as point forms for visual guidance/ paragraphing
✨ Always re-reading my post to make sure it’s succinct
✨ Incorporate my personal thoughts here and there to avoid info dumping!
3️⃣ Making your post SAVE-WORTHY
This mantra has been really super helpful for me. While presentation helps with impressions, having useful content worth saving helps with the ✨engagement✨
🌸 Include recommendations with names, location tags
🌸 Link up related posts to retain engagement
🌸 Consolidate recommendations to make listing posts rather than just singular features
4️⃣ Last but not least, HAVE FUN!!!
In continuation to point 1 – the only way to sustain your content creation practice is to truly enjoy it!
🌸 Challenge yourself with all the campaigns and hashtags in spotlight!
🌸 Show up for Lemon8 events, meet the community and make new friends!
🌸 While having fun, remember to also safeguard yourself by sharing only what you stand for, and take any negative attention with just a pinch of salt! ❤️
