with the new ios16, i wanted to personalize my wallpaper. so here it goes~

heard lots of amazing things about procreate and it was the first app i downloaded after purchasing my ipad 😂

there’s lots of brushes and even customizations for each brush, which makes procreate so wonderful! as a beginner myself, i had to watch lots of tiktok videos and piece information together. here’s to a beginner’s guide with tips and tricks i have learnt along the way 🤓

    💰 cost

unlike other editing apps like vsco and picsart, procreate charges a one off fee of $15! long term use makes this purchase so worth 🤭

    ✍🏻 tips for beginners

    1️⃣ layers

this is really important! create as many layers for each new item/colour you draw, it will make your life so much easier 😜

layers allow you to erase and edit easily, without worrying that it will interfere with the other portions of your art 🖼️

btw the max layers you can have is 36!

    2️⃣ base

import a picture of your choice as layer 1! from there, reduce the opacity while you trace over it from other layers 👫🏻

    3️⃣ colour

you’ll want to have colours in your drawing as close as possible to the original picture. to do so, open up the colour palette and press on the colour on your image. such a hack!! 🤯

    4️⃣ shadows

this is probably the hardest and was where i spend the longest time. you’ll have to trace and colour where the light hit and casted a shadow. once you’re done, reduce the opacity of the layer + change it to multiply. really love how it turned out 🥹

    5️⃣ clipping mask

i love this feature!! turning it on allows me to colour within the previous layer. such a lifesaver 🤭

loving procreate so much, definitely worth the $15! no hesitation, download it and you’ll enjoy it as much as it do 🤭
