Heard of the “sad beige aesthetic”? 🥲

Neutral tones have been dominating trends in home decor and fashion for years now 📈

Personally, I'm not a fan of the “sad beige aesthetic,” but there's nothing inherently wrong with having a home decor that's entirely beige-focused.

It's practical, looks good, and matches with pretty much anything.

When I was renting, I opted for that style because it was easier, and I could find all my furniture at IKEA 😂

But if you're ready to move on from the porridge-colored era and want something different for your home reno… here are my 2 current fav styles that go beyond the typical Scandi/Japandi look! рџЏ

    〰️

    1️⃣ Bauhaus

▪️ Rational, simple, and functional design

▪️ “Form follows function”, “less is more”

▪️ Characterized by clean lines and a lack of ornaments

▪️ Often features simple geometric forms like circles, squares, and triangles.

▪️ Bold pops of primary colors like red, yellow, and blue.

    2️⃣ Postmodernism

▪️ A desire to break free from modern design / mid-century modern

▪️ Characterized by saturated colors, loud patterns & strong contrasts

▪️ Incorporates a mix of natural and retro shades like avocado, mustard, burnt orange, turquoise & metallic tones

▪️ Look for furniture with chunky profiles, low coffee tables with short legs, tubular & spherical shapes, fluted finishes.

I hope this post inspires you if you’re embarking on your home renovation and want something else other than the typical Scandi / Japandi styles 😝

I’d also love to know what you think of the “sad beige aesthetic” / what’s your current fav interior design trend! ❤️

P.S. I’m preparing to buy a new place overseas which will require drastic reno. Follow my learning journey (more like challenge LOL) if you'd like! 😜
