Before reno works commence, I believe you would’ve already discussed with your ID/contractor on your carpentry. So we’re skipping this part!

Splitting this post into more than one as it’s lengthy! Here’s part 1 of 3!

    1. ID first visit, electrical and aircon

Once we collected our keys, we had our ID and her electrician to visit our site to take some rough measurements. We discussed with the electrician for about 3 hours on all the electrical points.

Don’t be like us and ensure to plan your electrical points ahead! I think our meet up with the electrician could have been shorter if we had planned ahead.

The meet up with our aircon guy was about 10mins. Please tell your aircon guy in advance if you are going to be boxing up the pipes and if there are any sliding doors that may require the “space” for the sliding bar.

    2. Hacking

Our ID begin the renovations works with the hacking of some walls as requested by us. This took 1-2 days. We never got to see the process so we can’t share much but should be quite straightforward?

Make sure your ID applies for the hacking permit with HDB!

    3. Tiling works

We then proceeded with tiling works. We took HDB tiles so the tiling works our tiler started with was the overlaying of the bathroom tiles and the kitchen backsplash (this was actually done slightly later due to unknown reasons but I think they were supposed to be done together.)

*important things to note: let your tiler know if there are any electrical points/aircon piping in the bathroom so that he will not cover it with tiles. *

    4. Aircon piping

While the tiler was there, the aircon installers also run the aircon pipes from the aircon ledge to the bedrooms and living room.

We faced some hiccups here and had to redo half the pipes but luckily it worked out in the end.

    5. Partition works

Our favourite part was parition works. They proceeded with partition works and making good of the demolished walls. The aircon pipes were also boxed up during this time. This was kind of like the halfway mark as you can really see the house coming together!

    To be continued…

Stay tune for the next post for the second part of the reno!
