I've lived with aircons for years, and I’m embarrassed to say I only found out how to use the different modes recently 🙈🫣

If you've fiddled around with your AC remote, you might have noticed that it comes with various mode settings.

So how do you know which mode to use?? These are some of the common ones—and also the ones that I have on my remote!

‼️ The actual symbols you have on your remote might look different from mine, depending on your AC brand / when you bought it.

    Ok let’s go!

    1️⃣ COOL MODE

This is what you'd know an AC for. It takes in hot air, runs it through the compressor, before blowing cool air out.

    Use this mode when:

    ✅ It's hot & humid

    〰️

    2️⃣ DRY MODE

This reduces the amount of moisture in the air. Humid air is taken into the AC, dried by the evaporator, and then released back into the room as dry air.

    Use this mode when:

✅ It's humid but NOT hot e.g. on rainy days

✅ You don't need to cool the air

    〰️

    3️⃣ FAN MODE

You'll get air circulation with this mode, but no changes will be made to the temp or humidity levels

    Use this mode when:

✅ Temp & humidity are ok, so you just need air movement (literally like what a fan does)

    〰️

    4️⃣ AUTO MODE

This mode is meant to achieve a specific temp and maintain it. When the temp has been achieved, the compressor switches off. It turns on again when the temp changes.

    Use this mode when:

✅ You want to keep the temp steady & consistent

Another common mode is the heating mode, but I'm not gonna cover it bc I'm sure we don't need it in SG 😂
