    If you have extra mushrooms lying around in your fridge, this recipe is a delicious and creative way to make use of them! With just a few additional ingredients, you can make this miso mushroom sourdough toast for breakfast or as midday snack.

    ingredients:

    1 pack brown mushrooms

    1 heaping tsp miso paste

    1 tbsp maple syrup

    1 tbsp soy sauce

    1 tsp butter

    2 slices of sourdough bread

    cream cheese

    directions:

    cut washed mushrooms into thin slices and set aside.

    In a small bowl, add in miso paste, maple syrup, soy sauce and a splash of water and mix till it is well combined.

    heat up a pan on medium heat, add in a tsp of butter and let it melt and coat the pan.

    Proceed to add in the mushrooms and sauté till the mushrooms are cooked. add in the miso mixture into the mushrooms and cook till it reduces. Once it is ready, set the mushrooms aside.

    toast 2 slices of sourdough and spread a generous amount of cream cheese on both slices of bread. top it of with the miso mushrooms and it’s ready to be served!
