• [VIDEO] GREAT BAR TO HANG W FRIENDS POST-DINNER

If you’ve seen Lou Shang 楼上 make its rounds on social media recently, that’s bc they have such an INTERESTING concept!! They’re newly opened but FULLY BOOKED, really glad my friend somehow managed to snatch us some seats by the cute HDB corridor parapets.

    WHAT WE LOVED:

🤍 The vibes of this place bc it took us back to our childhood!! I remember running leaning on the parapets people watching lolll

🤍 The realistic aesthetic??? It was really SO LEGIT

🤍 The bar seats – the view from there really looked better than the low tables

🤍 Attentive servers who were also friendly

    WHAT WE DIDN’T LIKE:

⚪️ There were no mains available at dinner time, which was really a bummer (the kind boss explained to us that they were rationing their supplies for the weekend)

⚪️ Drinks were VERY potent – the server told us this himself (well some people might enjoy this LOL)

⚪️ Price point – IT WAS SUPER EXPENSIVE 🥹 we had 2 drinks (pipagao and osmanthus), the angmoh dough sticks (churros) and mala fries and it cost us $83.6 in total 💸

Will probably not go back again (at least for dinner or post dinner) but it was a great first experience! We ended up at good ol Maccas for dinner 🥹

SO GO ONLY ON A FULL STOMACH!

Concept is cute and honours the Singapore public housing heritage.. But also for realz – upon further introspection, this is consumerism and kind of (?) egocentricity at its finest. To the many who visit the bar, it’s probably because you are privileged enough and can afford to, and such hdb flats may actually be rare or novel sights to you. But let’s also take a moment to remember that there’re people who do live in such flats and it’s not JUST “an old school” or “vintage” or “novel” thing to go gaga over. To some, this is their everyday, their everything. Just a lil reflection that not every part of society has progressed in the same way & wow this went solemn real quick, but it’s always gr8 to be sensitive and respectful towards others 🙂 LOL where was I going with this?? But yes. Just treat everyone respectfully, ok?
