you definitely have seen this place on your instagram at least once – it's the place where the entrance looks like a mama shop, but actually is a hidden restaurant and bar! swipe to the end to see where the entrance actually is 👀

    📍Mama Diam

    located at 38 Prinsep Street

open from 4pm-1030pm daily, closes at 12mn on fri and sat

$$$ price point – more high end dishes and cocktails

food review 🤑 we had 3 main dishes at mama diam: the appetizer and two mains

    – the appetizer was fresh oysters served with shallots and thai green chili (it was like an oyster roulette since there were 3 different types of oysters served). the oysters were fresh and the shallots gave additional texture to it! i personally didn't like the green chilli because it was way too spicy for me even if i scraped it off, but spicy lovers would love it

    – the first main was the bak kut teh udon and this was absolutely one of the best dishes i've had; i really love udon and bak kut teh so this was a combination i never would have thought of. the bak kut teh is more on the herbal end as opposed to peppery but it has so much flavor and the meat is so tender, you'll want to finish the whole thing

    – the second main was the scallop angel hair pasta which was really good too and served with ikura, the scallops were fresh and huge so it felt like it was worth the price. but the bak kut teh definitely outshone this dish for me

drinks review 👀‼️ we had two cocktails and mama diam is known for their creative plating of drinks

    – the first cocktail was a really sweet gummy rose drink (unfortunately i cant find it on their menu anymore) but it was nice and pretty and was served with gummy bears on a stick. the alcohol wasn't too strong either so this is great for anyone with a sweet tooth

    – the second cocktail was pretty strong, it's their chai tarik brew which contains whisky and milk tea; it kind of tasted like baileys but the alcohol was overpowering for me so i didn't really like this drink as much

ambience review 🥰✔️ the entrance itself is already stunning but the inner design is so different

    – the outside entrance needs no other introduction, the cool part is how the mama shop goodies are actually all real and make for a great photo opp

    – the inside is quite the contrast, it has alot of dark hues and undertones and has a very classy vibe, which you wouldn't be able to know from the outside

overall mama diam is a great place to go with friends or on a date, i would have liked to try more cocktails since there's a lot of cool and creative drinks, but it's also very photo worthy! the price is on the higher end so i wouldn't go as often, but it was an enjoyable experience
