If you love the outdoors, travelling or just need a little getaway that won’t break your wallet, here’s a little guide to my favourite spot to hike when I need a break from the city 💐
My boyfriend and i are big hikers. we love the outdoors and the smell of nature; but where in Singapore can we do big hikes without hearing construction noises and smelling car fumes other than Macritchie or Bukit timah hill?????
If you’re like me and love boat rides and just the feeling of getting away from the city, take a trip to Pulau Ubin, one of the islands nearest to singapore! It’ll feel like you’re on your way to Bintan 🤣
You can take the ferry from Changi Point Ferry Terminal for about as cheap as $3!
When you reach, there’s a little Bali vibe kinda market going on, and you can rent bikes if you don’t wanna hike!
But note that even if you rent a bike, there are bike parkings so you can park and hike, like what we did 🙂
Onto the main highlight, the picturesque spot that not many know about 😍✨
We and hiked up Puaka Hill, where one of the tour guides from a school group told us secretly, “if i were you, i would climb to the rocks and take a look at the breathtaking view😉”
so we did! we carefully climbed over and got the edge of the hill(beware..don’t do this if you’re not 100% confident with heights and hiking LOL) and wow. look at the viiieww! it’s like we were in bali!
A little getaway for uni couples looking for a great hike. 🌲
Some tips:
1. 💵Bring cash!!!!!!!! Not many vendors accept card and there aren’t many options :”) ESPECIALLY FOR THE FERRY!
2. 🍌Bring some snacks, picnic mat and umbrella! (but plastic bags as well to dispose your trash) It can get really hot or start pouring in 2 seconds, so an umbrella comes in handy when you’re snacking out in one of the many picturesque bali-vibe spots.🌿
3. 🦟 BRING MOSQUITO REPELLENT! The mosquitoes there are NO JOKE. Keep reapplying!
4. ☀️ Wear sunblock, bring it, and reapply!
5. 🐵 Watch out for the macaques, don’t make noises with plastic cos it’ll attract them thinking you have food. Don’t eat in front of them either and don’t look them in the eyes and you should be fine!
