i wna share my experience at taoz ceramics @ orchard gateway and i gotta say first that it was not great at all 😪 my bf and i bought the fave deal which has 60 mins pottery workshop + mini cup painting for 2 pax.
we started our session 15 mins after our reservation timing as we couldnt find someone to assist us when we reached since the place was in a mess. there was 1 instructor for 2 of us and the instructor started speaking to us in chinese without clarifying that we were comfortable with that. she went on to talk about technical terms in chinese and when we didnt understand and asked her to repeat, she seemed reluctant to do so.
when we werent doing an action correctly, she barely corrected us/ kept repeating the same thing which wasnt helpful in our learning. in the end, she just let us try the action for a few times before tearing our work down and redoing it. we had fun with the clay but it was more of 90% her work and 10% ours.
they told us our pottery would be ready in 1-2 months. however, after 3 months when my bf called to ask if our pottery were ready for collection, they said no. in the end, we waited for 5 MONTHS to finally collect our potteries.
when my bf was checking the potteries at the store, he noticed my mini cup had a little crack on it and asked if it was safe to use for drinking. they then said it wasnt (which means that if he hadnt noticed, they would have just acted like it was okay) and that they would help to buff and fix the cup which would take another week or so. when we went back to collect the mini cup, guess what!!!! they gave us a TOTALLY different cup….. which means they redid my mini cup and acted like it was the one i did and told me that they fixed the one i did?????? i feel so damn cheated…. the least they could do was just to tell me that the cup couldnt be fixed instead of redoing without telling me and wasting all my efforts..
ugh maybe its just us that had such a bad experience but i hope by sharing my experience, it could prevent others from being in the same situation…
psa we went 5 months ago but they have since expanded their shop so maybe the system would be better now
