I attended an event recently at Marquee (located at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore) and was so displeased and disappointed by my experience that I will likely never return. Here’s what you should know if you’re considering a night out at this club:
🤬INCREDIBLY rude bouncers. In a crowded and dim setting, there will always be some unintentional squeezing and pushing, and some people may end up accidentally obstructing the way. However, it is in my opinion that some of Marquee’s bouncers were being unnecessarily aggressive to the club’s patrons – I was pushed and shouted at a few times to move, which I personally found quite scary and frightening as a petite girl.
🥲I felt very disrespected and decided to leave after that. I think the crowd control measures could have been carried out in a more polite manner, especially in a club where the standard cover charge can go up to $100.
👶If you are a newbie clubber, I think this may not be suitable as the hostility can get overwhelming. Other clubs such as Zouk may be more suitable as the security are more cordial there.
💸OVERPRICED drinks. Marquee’s drinks are infamous for being very inflated, so definitely pregame before going!
‼️This is just my personal experience, of course! I was also there when a more well-known DJ was playing which could explain why the customer service was so unfortunate.
