You guys really loved my previous installment of how to style a pear-shaped body so I'm back with another post with more tips- this time focusing on PANTS and blazer sets!

I am someone who usually prefers dresses- pants can be quite tricky to style and get into for me as I'm bottom-heavy 🥹 so for all of you who struggle with the same issue, here are things you should look out for!

    1. STRAIGHT CUT/ WIDE LEG/ FLARE BOTTOMS

Look out for labels like this when choosing jeans or pants. Avoid skinny jeans like the plague unless you're styling them with lots of accessories- but even then, they may just be downright uncomfy!

Straight cut and wide leg jeans reduce the focus on wider hips and give a cleaner overall look.

    2. DRAW ATTENTION DOWNWARDS

You can also opt for flare bottoms, as they draw the attention away from hip area downwards. Wide cuffs are also coming back into fashion in jeans and pants, and the focal point is adjusted down to your shoes.

You can pick an eye-catching boot (e.g. lace up, buckles) or a bejeweled heel. Keep your upper half simple if you are doing this!

    3. DRAW ATTENTION UPWARDS

Pick crop tops that are unique to put more visual interest in the top half of your body. This can be in the form of embellishments, ruffles, or ruching.

Avoid dramatic sleeves that redirect the focus downwards again when your hands are down, and pick cuts like padded shoulders instead.

    4. ADD VOLUME ON TOP

Balance out the smaller top half of your body to fake an hourglass shape. This can be done in the form of ruching or ruffles, or in a cowl top (also adds interest!). This balances out your body, especially in pieces that may hug your hips and accentuate them (especially satin skirts).

    5. PAY ATTENTION TO CUTTING

Pick oversized blazers that end below your butt, instead of just above or around it. When your blazer ends above your hips, the focal point of your fit gets drawn back to your hips and it ends up looking less “clean” and tailored.

Also opt for high-waist bottoms, especially if your pants has a unique waist cutting (asymmetrical) or lots of details (ties/ ribbons/ buttons).
