i have the WORST spending habits & that always leaves me with no space in my wardrobe 😟

been desperately looking for places to sell my clothes & chanced upon @fleawhere on instagram! they have three outlets — dhoby ghaut, queensway & peace centre. i decided to try my luck at dhoby since it was the nearest to my house (and there’s aircon 🤭) its located at dhoby xchange which is right below the mrt station 🚞 SUPER CONVENIENT, SUPER ACCESSIBLE!

this was my first time having a booth and i was honestly so unprepared for this event but here are some of the things i learnt and maybe this could help you 🫶

    booth details:

    💸 price — $108

    📆 date — saturday & sunday! (11am – 6pm)

🧳 setup — one table & two chairs provided!

01 JIO YOUR FRIENDS! i would say that fleawhere is not as widely known as the hammock market/luggage market so getting your friends to spread the word really helps 🗣️

02 fleawhere operates on a first come first serve basis! there is no allocated booth so COME EARLY 🫵🏻 it’s best to get a spot nearer to the entrance because that’s where the crowd gathers at

03 bring ANYTHING and EVERYTHING‼️ many other vendors were selling things like stuffed toys, board games, ukuleles even! its not just limited to clothes which allows for more variation and possibly more sales too!

04 categorize & separate your pieces! at first, i arranged them according to the types of clothing — tops, bottoms, outerwear etc. but one of the mistakes i made was not separating them to their price points 💰 have different piles for your expensive/cheap pieces for more efficient sales especially when the crowd starts to come & it gets busier 😵‍💫

05 use signages 🪧 i cannot stress this enough! people usually take one glance at your booth and then they move on to the next. the best way to attract attention is to indicate your prices! and if possible, do have some bundle deals too! your main target audience is domestic helpers so you must be willing to sell your items at a cheaper price 💸

06 TALK TALK TALK! i lost many customers at the start because i didn’t know how to engage with them and i was so nervous. talk to them and find out what they’re looking for! not everyone is willing to dig through the massive pile of clothing so knowing their taste & style saves them a lot of time and could maybe secure yourself a sale too! 👍🏻

07 be willing to go lower, and i mean LOW especially when it’s close to closing time! (around 4pm onwards). many vendors started shouting their prices and they went from $5 to $3 to $1⁉️ if you wanna be able to sell your clothes, you must put on your shameless self and be ready to shout as well 😟 me being the paiseh one, i had help from my friends to scream ‘LOW PRICES!’ ‘$1!’ etc. to ‘compete’ with the other vendors HAHAHA but it was all in good fun 😆 oh be prepared for the crowd. they really listen out for cheap prices and they SWARM IN QUICK

08 always have someone watch your booth!! it can get crowded and pieces may/may not get stolen if you’re not careful! && the toilet is about a two minute walk away so it’ll be good to have someone look after your items. just remember to keep a look out for your items especially during peak periods

all in all, fleawhere is a good place to start and the slots don’t run out as quick as THM & TLM! i managed to clear almost everything hehe — it was an eye opening experience & honestly would do it again when it’s time for another round of decluttering 🤭
