i’ve repurchased their oil-free moisturiser countless of times it’s a product that i’ll always go back to and honestly it’s quite exp 💸 a regular 50ml tub is $63 so this time i got their refill pack which is 150ml for $121!! that means i’m saving $68 so technically i get more than a tub worth for free 🤩 not girl mathing this ok the refill pack will last u for a good amt of time and u can refill them in any of your old bottles ♻️

He’s just not that into you.

This is one consistent harsh truth I’ve noticed over the years. Felt like writing this after reading posts on relationship woes😅

There’s actually an old movie on this, and I really feel that it’s quite true! The same man can be a jerk to someone whom they’re not so into, and the perfect boyfriend/husband to the one that they’re truly into.

One example that left a deep impression on me during my younger years was this..

There was this guy friend of mine when I was younger.. we used to hang out in a group. After knowing him, we soon got to know his girlfriend too. Then one day, we found out from his then girlfriend that he hits her when he gets mad and loses control🥹 We were so shocked😣😣😣

Eventually they broke up and we felt happy for her cos in our minds he’s such a jerk right?

But then guess what.. he later when on to meet his current wife who I guess he’s really into because he transformed into the most perfect caring husband! If you met him as her husband , you would not have imagined him to be the same guy who hits his girlfriend😅

I guess what I’m trying to say to all the younger girls here who are still in the dating phase is that..

Everyone knows how to treat someone right, it’s whether they choose to do so or not. Stop making excuses for his bad behaviour.. If it’s obvious that he’s not that into you just let him go.. time is not going to make him like you more.

Someday you will meet the right person for you🫶🏻

Hellloooo foodies 🐰,

I finally visited this cafe after a very very long time to kind of remind myself what the foods here tasted like and when I got there, I could see how it was still so popular because so many people queued together with me and because the place was so small, we had to wait like 20-40 mins for a table 😐

so let me do a run down on what we ordered and if it was worth the wait !!

🍝 Lola’s Breakfast ($23)

I feel like almost every cafe serves this so it wasn’t really special. It is quite pricey for something I can make at home ?

It just felt like a regular breakfast platter so you could definitely skip this if you’re going there 😐

🍝 Spicy Crab Rigatoni ($20)

I’m not a seafood person and this was honestly better than I expected. The pasta was kind of hard… like not those type of soft (?) pastas which was kind of disappointing.

The sauce was not spicy so if you can’t take spice you don’t have to worry, it had more of a tomato 🍅 flavour and they were really generous on the crab meat.

But as it got cold , the pasta kinda of hardens even more 😭 so that’s why I could only give it a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5 ⭐️s

🍝 Bacon Mushroom Truffle Linguine ($18)

Honestly quite surprised by the flavours of this because it was definitely more flavourful than the spicy crab one and is $2 cheaper 🤷🏻‍♀️

I enjoyed it and loved how the cream didn’t make me sick of eating it after a long time.

Perfectly seasoned and would honestly have this again which is why I gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5 ⭐️s

🍝 Shakshuka ($16)

My mom loves ordering this and giving her opinions so this is based on what she said 😆

This dish took quite a while to come out and the flavour of it was not up to her standards, she have tried better ones before so it was kind of disappointing.

Nothing special so I could only give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5 ⭐️s

🍝 Lastly we have the Honey Paprika Crispy Wings ($13)

Of course the price is quite steep for some wings but honestly it was quite worth it.

I love the honey seasoning although the paprika didn’t really contribute much. However, there were some parts of the wings that are under seasoned or not even seasoned.

But I still liked how they served it hot and it was really crispy and juicy so I think this was the best thing that I’ve had when I went there 🥹

It was an eventful 3 months plus into lemon8 🍋

Being relatively new to lemon8 🍋, i didn’t expect my post on my 55k wedding would catch the attention of Zula. I was pleasantly surprised and elated, as it means my content has gained some attention and are relevant to people’s interest

After some brief questions with them on what the content will be about, I gave them the permission to write, but on the condition that they would only use my lemon8 username

In a week’s time the article went live on their website, telegram and Facebook. The article emphasises on over-stretching wedding budget for a once in a lifetime event. It was really far from my intention😒😒, which is to not be bogged down by the common narrative of “spending less than xxx for our wedding” and instead to focus on deciding if each purchase is valuable (or worth it).

Immediately, comments and debates sprung out in many places, such as Facebook and HardwareZone forums, and other news outlet like mustsharenews (on their FB page)

All the comments were unpleasant and are quite hurting, as many were deeply concern about us promoting “frivolous” spending to the public and not adhering to the initial budget.

NGL, it didn’t feel good at all, and had initial thoughts to confront and clarify with Zula on the content.

Instead of dwelling on the situation, I thought maybe to just make good use of this opportunity to create some stuff out of it 🙂🙂

1️⃣ I immediately fill up the gaps in the original post to clear any misunderstandings

As I share mainly personal finance content, I was low-key worried that the narrative that I am spending my money frivolous being put out by them would reduce my credibility on this space. I analysed my post and noticed some gaps (such as the budget increase) was not explained in detail.

Hence, I immediately reacted with a post to fill up the gaps that was not addressed in the original post (i.e the initial budget of 20k).

There were many other things to clarify but I specifically chose this to clear as it resonated with what I am intending to share on lemon8 🍋

2️⃣ I didn’t waste my energy trying to fight back

I know I would be in a losing battle, as content posted here is considered public, and they are able to freely to write an article about it. This is according to previous similar experiences shared by other creators on lemon8 whom had their posts being reported on.

Moreover, different past experiences shared by creators here show that that it is hard to get them to take down the original article, and at most they would only amend slightly your article, or delink your content. By the time such amendments happen, the article would have already garnered massive attention and following, which already would have achieved the news outlet’s objective.

Additionally, with the above conversation with Zula, I had weaker grounds to push back on their article, be it to take it down or them to issue clarification, as they can always say that permission was given to them and I that I have checked content with them (albeit it not being a thorough check 🙃🙃)

3️⃣ Making a most out of this situation

If they can write about my post, I can write about them too. right? 😉 But I chose to write about the comments instead, cos some are just kinda hilarious HAHAHAHAHA.

I am also able to share my perspective on the different issues brought out in the comments on SG weddings. Although these comments are nasty in nature, it is a real reflection of the current wedding landscape and society’s sentiments to weddings as a guest.

In addition, I am able to touch on topics such as justifying one’s expenses (#girlmath), and the recent incident involving mothership through this experience

4️⃣ Continue my usual stuff

Even now, it was really tough to even speak about my wedding on my lemon8 platform. Let alone to share any personal finance content (who will trust anyone who “burst” their “initial” wedding budget?)

After much analysis, and realising the gross misrepresentation of my post, I plucked the courage to continue posting personal finance related topics. I reckoned that many of the tips I shared were previously taught to me by renowned finance books, people and my own experience, and that the truth will eventually reveal if my sharing are indeed accurate or not.

5️⃣ Sharing the experience, learnings and tips to the wider community

It is about sharing with everyone to be aware that such things can happen when you chose to put your content out here, and how to react accordingly.

It was a total new experience for me as I have never created such extensive content to the public (lemon8 being my first!). I wasn’t aware fully the consequences of allowing media to report on my post w/o proper checks. And I believe many on this platform are the same boat too.

With this experience, I shared some of my insights on how to protect yourself online, and how to react when your post is on the news, and people are reacting negatively towards it. .

NGL, the space outside lemon8 🍋 is much harsher and less forgiving, so we need to cherish the space here 😇😇

💭 Final thoughts

I am thankful for this opportunity to be able to experience, learn and share this journey.

Hopefully none of the creators here will end up with this messy situation!

there's a few cai fan stores along that road, but this always seem to be shorter…. and it actually didnt disappoint!!! the portions were pretty big, i couldnt finish it actual 😭😭😭 and i already ordered less rice!! $4.20 was for 1 meat, 1 veg, 1 egg (or rather 2 veg). i heard my friends saying their cai fan at other places could go up to $5 or $6, so i think this is very worth it ✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️

saw this on lemon8 many times and decided to give it a go. it wasn't the best tasting coffee…. i tried their kopi-c and it was bitter, and it tasted like “brown water”…. would give that a 2.5/5 for me….. i personally preferred their traditional kopi instead!!! would give that a 3.5/5 still. if you like it slightly sweeter, kopi will be for you! but other than that, i'd consider this to be ✨reasonably✨ priced….. compared to those cafes and coffee houses that are charging $6-$8 for one teeeeenyyy weeennnnyyy cup of coffee ☠️☠️ would be a good treat once in a while, but its defo not the most wallet friendly 🤭🤭

I have been living with my in-laws for the past 1 year, while waiting for my BTO to be ready for move-in (hopefully by early next year). It was extremely awkward and uneasy for me at first as I had to adapt to a new living environment, away from my precious mum and brother whom I have been living with for the past 27 years 😭

In this journey of mine, there are definitely both merits and struggles:

✅ Pros

💰Saving Big: No rents, which helps us to build more savings before the BTO comes.

🍽️Daily Feasts: My parents-in-law cook everyday and dinner is always ready for me after work, unless I have other dinner plans. I am also thankful for them helping out with my laundry as they do so for the entire family.

❌ Cons

🤫 Limited Privacy: To have the luxury of ample personal space can be challenging. I will usually keep myself to our room and the dining area.

🤝 Balancing Act: Harmonising his family’s and my routines can be tricky. For instance, they are early birds who wake up early at around 6/7am to have breakfast, while I am one who usually wake up at around 9/10am on weekends. I guess I learnt to wake up earlier as time goes by, to blend in as an early bird.

Overall, I am grateful for the support my in-laws have extended to me so far. There are inconveniences but they are usually minor and bearable for the time being.

However, to be honest, I wouldn’t deny having negative feelings often because I miss my home, mum and brother, since I got married – especially when I wish my husband was more supportive and understanding in certain situations.
